There are many great reasons to consider moving to Benton County. The Bentonville Farmers Market is one of them. If there’s one thing we know here at Burnett Real Estate Team, it’s the value of a great location; and our hometown market certainly has that. Sitting on the city’s historic downtown square, the market beckons passerby’s attention with fresh meats, dairy, produce, baked goods, and handmade items.
When you visit the intersection of Central and Main in the months between April and October, you’ll see why the farmers market has thrived in the city center for 41 years.
Reasons to Love It
The hustle and bustle of shoppers mixed with the sounds of live music, the aroma of fresh flowers, and the wagging tails of Bentonville’s furriest residents can make anyone fall in love with this downtown tradition
The market provides the community with fresh, locally produced food while supporting local farmers and the downtown economy. It’s open from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm CST every Saturday until October 28. Nearly 100 producer-only vendors of all different categories set up shop around the square, covering more than two blocks. The selection of foods is boundless, with vendors selling fresh fruit and vegetables, jams, and pastries, along with other locally produced goodies.
A Flavor to Suit Any Taste
Looking for something spicy? Check out Arkansalsa, a small batch salsa that tout’s The Natural State’s reputation with a simple recipe that doesn’t contain gluten, MSG, or GMO. This season, find them at booth M4 on Main St.
What about something sweet? Get there early to enjoy a cinnamon roll from Bentonville Baking Company on Central or visit the Kind Kitchen food truck a few spots down for fresh-squeezed juices and smoothies.
More Than Just Food
When you visit the market, it’s not just your belly you’ll make happy. There are over 15 craft vendors that host weekly demonstrations and workshops that are kid and family friendly. For example, on May 6, the market hosted Kids Fest: a fun-filled day featuring bounce houses, horse rides, obstacle courses and more. In the spirit of the dog days of summer, the farmers market also hosts Dog Days, complete with pet parade, costume contest, and of course treats for the good boys and girls.
Plus, the market is the perfect place to find gifts for the new friends you’ll meet in Bentonville or to send a little local love to friends near and far. 21 Reasons to Say Thank You makes it easy to drop a line with their greeting cards and note cards. Or, grab yourself something from Arkansas-based Olive Loom, who sells handmade clothing.
If the above doesn’t make you eager to visit, mark your calendars for these upcoming market events:
- Make a Difference Day | August 12, 2017: local nonprofits are invited to the market to demonstrate how residents can get involved.
- Dog Days | August 26, 2017: Guests can enjoy dog themed activities and competitions.
- Sugar Creek Days | September 2, 2017: Learn about the Sugar Creek heritage that built Bentonville over 100 years ago.
