Giving these areas a little bit of attention can help raise the value of your home, which will later provide a higher return on investment if you’re hoping to sell.

Structure

Foundation, roofing, siding, etc.  Having these structural pieces in top shape is important. Certainly, having an inground pool is nice, but potential buyers want to know that your home is solidly built and well-maintained.

Interior

Amenities

An amenity is any feature in your home that makes the home more comfortable or desirable, though it isn’t exactly necessary.  Central air conditioning, multiple-car garages, and granite-topped islands are all examples of amenities; the more of them you have, the higher your home’s worth may be.

Upgrades

If you’ve recently renovated your antique kitchen or have built on any sort of addition, you’re in luck: these upgrades will likely boost the value of your home.  However, before you rush out to drop a few thousand dollars on upgrades, keep in mind that amenities often come down to a matter of personal preference.

You may love having a pool in your backyard but not everyone else will. You don’t want to alienate potential buyers who would rather forgo the hassle. In addition, it can be difficult to recoup the expense of a major upgrade in the sale price. Your money is better put towards necessary improvements and aesthetic appeal.

Yard Space
