At Burnett Real Estate Team, we speak to many prospective home buyers who wonder if Bentonville is the right place to raise their family. Being the 10th largest city in Arkansas, it comes as no surprise that Bentonville offers a wide array of educational opportunities for incoming students and new families to the area.
While we may be a little biased, we feel that without a shadow of a doubt, Bentonville schools are sure to provide the quality education necessary for a student’s academic and social success.
Bentonville Public Schools
Bentonville Public Schools boast a strong, confident mission statement: “Excellence in all we do through innovative, inspiring learning experiences.” With 19 schools in the district (10 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 3 junior high schools, and 2 high schools) a new resident to the area is sure to find a school that accommodates the specific needs of their student. Bentonville is also a Blue Ribbon School which means it is a top 500 high school in the nation!
Sports & Fine Arts
The school district offers a variety of different sports to entice young athletes, including: cross country, dance, cheerleading, and wrestling, just to name a few.
Aside from a wide array of sports, Bentonville Public Schools also offer a comprehensive fine arts program, with the Arend Arts Center being a hub for students who are interested in spending time on stage. Though the Arend Arts Center focuses primarily on the students of Bentonville Public Schools, the stage there has been graced by the presence of Christian rock group Jars of Clay, concert pianist Rosario Andino, and Bentonville’s very own Conservatory of Classical Ballet.
Bentonville also offers alternatives to traditional public schools such as Benton County School of the Arts, Bentonville Classical Academy, and Haas Hall.
Academic Excellence
Without a doubt, there is something special to be said about the academic inclination of the students in the Bentonville Public School district. Perhaps their lower than average student to teacher ratio (1 teacher per every 14 students, versus the national average of 1 teacher per every 16 students) is to be praised for their above average graduation rate of 88.7% versus the national average of 82%.
Additionally, students in Bentonville Public Schools tend to score higher on the SAT than the national average, with BPS students scoring an average of 1770 on the standardized test, versus the national average of 1490.
Bentonville Public Schools offer the Think, Research, Explore, Create (TREC) Center for Gifted Education for students K-12 who are in need of a more rigorous academic curriculum. The State Department of Education monitored the TREC program in 2012, and determined the program “to be one of the outstanding programs in the state.”
Additionally, BPS offers an International Baccalaureate Diploma Program to help college-bound students prepare for the next step in their education. Students who successfully complete the program can earn credits toward their college degree in America, but also internationally.
Tomorrow’s Education Today
Bentonville Public Schools certainly live up to their mission and commitment to excellence by providing an array of activities and opportunities for every kind of student. Students who are more athletically inclined have an incredible amount of opportunity through the diverse athletic department, while students who are interested in fine arts have access to the Arend Arts Center.
Across the board, students in Bentonville Public Schools have access to an education of exceptional quality, offering assurance to their parents that their student is being set up for academic and social success.
