One of the questions we’re often asked here at Burnett Real Estate Team is “what is there to do for fun around here?” And whether it’s sports and outdoor entertainment, live events, or shopping and food; Bentonville delivers.
One thing to mention for the adventurous type is the annual Bike, Blues, and BBQ Festival that takes place every year in nearby Fayetteville!
Bike, Blues, and BBQ Fun!
A fixture of Arkansas since the turn of the century, the Bike, Blues, and BBQ Festival in Fayetteville is slated to return for its 18th consecutive year during the last week of September in 2017.
Bikes, Blues, and BBQ is a motorcycle rally that has been held annually since its inception in 2000 and features a 4-day long celebration of motorcycle culture, great blues music, and of course; delicious barbecue.
From the beginning, the festival was founded with the purpose of supporting the local community and giving back to local charities. To date, the festival has raised over $1.5 million for local charities and that number looks to expand this year.
In fact, it’s been called the “largest rally for charity in the United States” for this reason! Just last year, the Bikes, Blues, and BBQ Festival raised the most money in its history, $230,000, from over 350 thousand participants.
A Whole City Comes Alive
The center of the rally for the Bikes, Blues, and BBQ Festival is held on Dickson Street, just down the road from the University of Arkansas and the Walton Arts Center. Dickson Street is a hub for bars, bites and stores alike, so participants can indulge in the festivities and crack open a cold brew and munch on some tasty food.
While the festival has its origins in motorcycle culture; you’ll find there’s something for everyone. If everyone is into great music and food, that is. The Washington County Fairgrounds is the hub of action for BBB; with everything from live music and barbecue, to lawnmower pulls and karaoke contests to entertain.
For the motorcycle aficionado, Baum stadium on Razorback road features hundreds of vendors including bike manufacturers and retailers selling everything from riding gear to maintenance and care products.
The annual “Battle of the Bikes” awards prizes to entrants who show off their skills, there’s an annual parade, and even a vintage bike show as well. And don’t forget the full lineup of great blues music, happening every day, and of course; barbecue is never far away! The rally and festival are family friendly, so don’t shy from bringing the little ones.
All in all, hundreds of vendors converge on Fayetteville each year and the event is always a celebration of great food, great music, and great fun! The festival swings back into town this year from September 20-23rd so you’ve got plenty of time to make arrangements now!
